Harry Hachmeister (*1979 in Leipzig) worked until 2019 under the name Grit Hachmeister. He lives and works in Berlin, Leipzig and Ottersberg. He studied artistic photography at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig as a master student under Prof. Timm Rautert. From 2003 to 2018 he worked in a cooperation with Lysann Buschbeck und Kathrin Pohlman as „VIP“. Since 2010 he is editor of DIE STREICHELWURST. Das Magazin with Claudia Gülzow and Pauline Recke. He received numerous scholarships, including a work scholarship by Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen (2020), a BS-Projects-Stipendium by HBK Braunschweig (2018) and a scholarship by the Pollock-Krasner-Foundation New York (2014). Including his various exhibitions mainly in Europe, he had shows at Museum Folkwang (Essen 2020), at Museum für Photographie Braunschweig (Braunschweig 2020), Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (Santiago de Chile 2020), Museum der bildenden Künste (Leipzig 2022) and Le Bureau (Düsseldorf 2023). Working interdisciplinary his works range from self portraits to ceramics to paintings while dealing with (gender) identities and bodies.
