possibilities on paper is a conceptual exhibition that does not show works in the classic sense of authorship. The exhibition presents a series of black and white copies that have been designed and stated by different personalities from various areas of society.

For this purpose, the curator asked artists, gallery owners, economists, entrepreneurs, politicians, journalists, scientists and curators, among others, for contributions and ideas that reflect the current situation resulting from the corona pandemic. The sheets are distributed in stacks in the gallery space and offered to take away. Responses to the project or to individual contributions are welcome and collected.

possibilities on paper transforms the gallery space into a space of thought and gathers statements, points of view, oscillating ideas, ideals, questions of faith, pragmatic formulations, knowledge or hopes for the present. Voices from various social areas express themselves about one or their now. The question of the exhibition aims at a situated or historical now. What can be a present life model? Where is it anachronistic? What is a present now and what can the term contemporary do? The question is not new, time is.

The exhibition can be understood as a gesture of pause in the largest incision since the end of the Second World War. In this exhibition experiment, the curator wants to consider the seriousness, but also the resulting hopes. It invites you to take a step aside in times of communicative sprints, to take a deep breath and to see the now by looking inwards. Until the opening, the curator does not know which image is going to be created by these views.

The project is based on the generosity and will of the authors and is not commercial.

possibilities on paper ist eine konzeptuelle Ausstellung, die keine Werke im klassischen Sinne der Autorenschaft zeigt. Die Ausstellung präsentiert eine Reihe schwarz-weißer Kopien, die von verschiedenen Persönlichkeiten aus diversen Bereichen der Gesellschaft gestaltet und beschrieben wurden.

Hierfür hat die Kuratorin unter anderem Künstler_innen, Galerist_innen, Ökonom_innen, Unternehmer_innen, Politiker_innen, Journalist_innen, Wissenschaftler_innen und Kurator_innen um Beiträge und Gedanken gebeten, die die derzeitige Ausnahmesituation in Folge der Corona-Pandemie wiederspiegeln. Die Blätter werden in Stapeln im Galerieraum verteilt und zum Mitnehmen angeboten. Reaktionen auf das Projekt oder auf einzelne Beiträge werden gesucht und gesammelt.

possibilities on paper verwandelt den Galerieraum in einen Gedankenraum und versammelt Aussagen, Standpunkte, oszillierende Ideen, Ideale, Glaubensfragen, pragmatische Formulierungen, Wissen oder Hoffnungen zur Gegenwart. Stimmen aus diversen gesellschaftlichen Bereichen äußern sich zu einem oder ihrem Jetzt. Die Frage der Ausstellung zielt auf ein situiertes bzw. historisches Jetzt. Was kann ein präsentisches Lebensmodell sein? Wo ist es anachronistisch? Was ist ein jetziges Jetzt und was kann der Begriff Zeitgenossenschaft? Die Frage ist nicht neu, die Zeit schon.

Die Ausstellung kann als Geste des Innehaltens verstanden werden in dem bislang größten Einschnitt seit dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Die Ernsthaftigkeit, aber auch die daraus entstehenden Hoffnungen, will die Kuratorin in diesem Ausstellungsexperiment betrachten. Sie lädt dazu ein, in Zeiten der sprintenden Kommunikation, einen Schritt zur Seite zu gehen, durchzuatmen und, mit einem Blick nach innen, das Jetzt zu betrachten. Welches Bild sich aus diesen Blicken konstruiert, bleibt auch der Kuratorin bis zum Eröffnungszeitpunkt unbekannt.

Das Projekt basiert auf der Großzügigkeit und dem Willen der Autor_innen und ist nicht kommerziell.
